Python Software Delivery¶
Introduction¶
Chapter 02 introduces the fundamentals of Python software delivery, covering the complete journey from turning Python sources into a running application. Through Python wheels, operating system (OS) packages, Conda packages, Open Container Initiative (OCI) container images, and standalone binaries, the chapter explores the software delivery flow, including packaging, distribution, and deployment. It also introduces the core building blocks shared across modern software ecosystems, such as the package format, metadata, remote artifact repositories, package managers, and installation runtimes. Along the way, it demonstrates how different distribution formats influence installation workflows, runtime environments, and deployment strategies.
